Portrait of the artist

“In my artistic practice, I am interested in exploring the intricate relationship between the human and the non-human world, especially through the juxtaposition of subjective experiences and collectively accepted modes of representation. How do we perceive our surroundings and ourselves within them? What are the conceptual and visual patterns that determine the way we represent the world around us?
I work primarily in the medium of painting, which allows me to vary degrees of abstraction, reality, and fiction, and to combine different visual sources. I draw from geological phenomena, biological imagery, digital softwares, mythical stories, and personal experiences.
A common element in my paintings is the meeting of the human figure with different natural environments and forms. These encounters suggest a longing for harmony, while a sense of uncertainty also arises from the simultaneous presence of estrangement and interdependence.”
